Happy New Year!
Wow what a year 2018 was. How did you find it? It was a year of big changes for us, thank you for joining us for the ride!
We met many new people at our two shows of the year; The Baby and Toddler Show at Sandown Park and the BabyTodd Bump, Baby and Toddler show at the South of England Showground. We will be exhibiting at both of these venues again this year, and look forward to catching up with some familiar faces and making new acquaintances along the way.
We also increased our range by introducing a basic leggings range in a variety of easy to wear colours, perfect for a capsule wardrobe. We also added personalised letter t-shirts to our range, reusing more of our scrap materials, as part of our journey to zero-waste. We upgraded our postal packaging to be fully recyclable/ compostable card parcel bags, ensuring your happy post continues to be plastic free!
We registered as a social enterprise during the year also, recognising the social positive choices we have been making in our business, including giving 50% of our profits away to charity. We were nominated and reached the finals for two awards during 2018 and were featured in the AAH magazine too. We are very grateful for all your support publicly and in private also. Thank you to each of you, you made 2018 an amazing year for us. So much so we took on our first member of staff outside of our nuclear family, the lovely Karis. It’s been so great to share our journey together and I’m excited for the developments we can made and improvements we can implement as a team.
I wanted to take this opportunity to give you an update of what 2019 holds for KJF Clothing and how you can get involved.
The main impact for 2019 is that our family is due to grow by another little one in March. This is a very exciting time for us as a family but it does mean I will need to take a small amount of time off to adjust to life with a newborn in the house. Therefore we will be closing our doors to orders on 6th March for a couple of months. Depending on the sleepiness of our new babe (my daughter skipped the newborn sleepy phase!) and how well our 3 year old adjusts to having a brother about the place, I hope to reopen in late May selling ‘in stock’ items to you guys over the summer. This means there will be no personalised items after 6th March for the foreseeable future. If you know you want a birthday tee or another personalised item for a special occasion, I suggest purchasing in January or February to avoid disappointment. I hope you can still support us during this period as we balance family and business life.
We will be exhibiting at the BabyTodd Bump, Baby and Toddler show on Saturday 9th March 2019 and at The Baby and Toddler show Friday 6th September - Sunday 8th September 2019 also. Please do drop by and say hello if you are in the area.
We will continue on our zero-waste journey during 2019 and will be launching a pre-loved section to our business. We intend to sell only organic, good quality children’s clothing from a variety of well known brands as well as pro-loved KJF Clothing. This is a small step to ensure clothing is given its maximum life span by making organic clothing an affordable option whilst reducing the amount of clothing ending up in landfill. We will update you over the coming month with the details of how you can sell your good quality, pre-loved organic clothing back to us. Spread the word with your friends!
We are in the process of setting up a new reward scheme for our most loyal customers. Keep an eye out in January for more information.
Our final news for 2019 is the launch of The Horsham Cloth Nappy Library. We will be supporting this Not for Profit venture, set up to encourage families local to Horsham, West Sussex, and the surrounding areas to consider reusable nappies as an alternative to single use nappies. Parents and Carers will be able to hire a cloth nappy kit from Horsham Cloth Nappy Library at a nominal fee for a month or so as a trial. The group will also offer advice and support to those considering cloth nappies and wanting to find out more. This will be a complimentary partnership between our KJF clothing business and this new Not for Profit organisation. If you are local to Horsham and are interested in getting involved in the library in any way, or want to know more, please get in touch.
Thank you again to each of you for joining us on this exciting journey. We look forward to sharing 2019 with you. Sign up to our newsletter and follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay up date with developments and opening times throughout 2019.
Happy New Year from all of us, may 2019 be kind to you all.
